Abstract Purpose:To report implantation of toric intraocular lens using capsular tension ring in three eyes with weak zonule.

Cases:The present comprised a 57-year-old female, 68-year-old male and 72-year-old male. Weak zonule was present due to shallow anterior chamber, Stevens-Johnson syndrome in the past, and phacodonesis. One eye had corneal astigmatism of −2.5 diopters and received implantation ZCT300. Corrected visual acuity improved from preoperative 0.5 to 1.2. Another eye had astigmatism of −1.5 diopters and was inserted with SN6AT3. Visual acuity remained at 0.15 due to impaired corneal epithelium. The third eye had astigmatism of −2.0 diopters and was implanted with SN6AT5. Visual acuity improved from 0.2 to 1.0. Capsular tension ring was used in all the 3 eyes during surgery. Postoperative deviation of axis of astigmatism was less than 2 degrees in all the 3 eyes.

Conclusion:Implantation of toric intraocular lens using capsular tension ring was useful in eyes with weak zonule. The findings show that toric intraocular lens is indicated to correct corneal astigmatism.
