大後頭神経痛による眼精疲労に対するハリ治療

Acupuncture for asthenopia with occipital neuralgia

　眼精疲労を訴えて眼科を受診し，屈折異常，調節異常，眼位異常，緑内障等が否定された患者で，大後頭神経出口部（風池）に圧痛を認めた17名に対して，大後頭神経出口部（風池）にハリまたはマッサージ治療を施行した．ハリ治療後，全症例で症状の消失あるいは軽快を認めた．

　ハリまたはマッサージ治療で大後頭神経痛が消失すると，眼精疲労も消失することから，眼精疲労と大後頭神経痛には密接な関係があることが示唆される．

During the foregoing 12-month period, we obser-ved 43 cases of asthenopia with dull ocular pain, headache, and/or stiffness of shoulder. We diagnosed 33 cases in the series as idiopathic asth-enopia after excluding causative eye disorders, e.g. refractive error, strabismus, accommodative insuf-ficiency or glaucoma.

We treated 17 out of these 33 patients with acu-puncture (9 patients) and/or massage (11 patients) at the site of exit of major occipital nerve. The treatment was effective in all the 17 cases to relieve occipital neuralgia and asthenopia. The findings also suggest that a close relationship exists between occipital neuralgia and idiopathic asth-enopia.
