  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

We evaluated the state of blood-aqueous barrier in 12 pattients with glaucomatocyclitic crisis or Posner-Schlossman's syndrome during the period of remission. We examined all the cases by anterior fluorophotometry and 10 cases by iris angiography.

Fluorescein concentration in the anterior cham-ber was significantly higher in the affected than in the fellow eye in all the cases. The integrity of blood-aqueous barrier in the affected eye became reestablished in 4 young subjects during the follow-up period of 6 to 18 months.

Iris angiography showed extravasation of dye from the iris in 80% of the affected eyes and in 50% of the fellow eyes. The extravasation was invariably more pronounced in the affected than in the fellow eyes. This difference was less apparent in younger subjects.

The findings indicate that the blood-aqueous barrier in glaucomatocyclitic crisis is in an impair. ed state even during the period of remission. The integrity of the barrier may be reestablished, partic-ularly in younger subjects.
