  • Look Inside

We treated 12 cases of inflammed red eyes with pain or ocular comfort including acute vernal con-junctivitis 2 cases, chemical burn 2 eyes and presumed episcleritis 8 eyes. Each case received a single intravenous injection of 900 mg of water -soluble aspirin, to be repeated, whenever neces-sary, on consecutive days.

Within one hour after injection, most cases re-sponded by distinct decrease in bulbar hyperemia as well as in ocular pain or discomfort. The beneficial effect on bulbar hyperemia was usually of lastingnature. Complete recovery was attained in all the cases with single or repeated injections in 10 days or less. In the majority of cases, the present therapeu-tic modality was distinguished in prompt and through alleviation of clinical signs and symptoms and seemed to be superior to other, currently avail-able ones.
