輻湊痙攣を伴う調節痙攣のアモバルビタールによる治療

Treatment of accommodation convergence spasm by intravenous amobarbital

　調節痙攣による視力低下および高度の近視化と輻湊痙攣による内斜視および複視を合併した3例に対して，中枢神経抑制剤であるアモバルビタールを静注し，全例に劇的な改善を認め，その効果は持続的であった。

　従来，この種の症例に対する治療は困難であったが，調節痙攣と輻湊痙攣を合併する症例に対しては，アモバルビタールによる治療が有効であると思われる。

Three cases of accommodation and convergence spasm were successfully treated by intravenous amobarbital. All the cases, who happened to be low-teen females, developed blurred vision due to myopic state between -5 and -8 diopters and esodeviation with diplopia. One case showed dis-turbed eye movement particularly in the horizontal direction. While an emmetropic state was induced by instillation of cycloplegics, the effect was only of temporary nature and did not improve esodevia-tion. As no lasting cure could not be obtained by conventional therapeutic means, we treated them by intravenous amobarbital, 5mg per kg body weight.
