　糖尿病群19例（24眼）およびコントロール群20例（23眼）の虹彩血管を用い，透過性の変化を電顕的に検討し，以下の結果を得た。

（1）コントロール群の虹彩血管内皮細胞は連続性で，細胞間はtight junctionにより接合されていた。

（2）糖尿病群の虹彩血管の一部にはtight junctionの離開がみられた。

（3）内皮細胞単位面積あたりのvesicleの数はコントロール群に比べ，糖尿病群で有意に増加がみられた。

　以上より糖尿病患者の虹彩血管は透過性の亢進を示し，それは内皮細胞の細胞間接合部を介しての輪送およびvesicular transportの亢進が考えられた。

We evaluated the permeability pattern of iris vessels in diabetic subjects through electron micro-scopic studies of 24 eyes (19 cases) with diabetes and 23 control eyes (20 cases).

In control eyes, the endothelial cells of iris vessels were continuous with intact junctional complexes. In diabetic eyes, the iris vessels showed occasional gap formation between the endothelial cells. The vesicles in the endothelial cells were significantly increased in number in the diabetic group as com-pared with the control group.
