  • Look Inside

A 53-year-old male developed calcareous corneal degeneration following bullous keratopathy. Cata-ract surgery had been performed at the age of 35 and 37 years respectively. The corneal opacity was treated by lamellar keratoplasty in the left eye and by penetrating keratoplasty in the right. The clini-cal course and the histopathological findings of the cornea in Werner's syndrome were evaluated.

Concerning the visual prognosis in the present case, penetrating keratoplasty was superior to la-mellar one. The transplanted full-thickness graft developed bullous keratopathy one year later.
