  • Look Inside

We conducted a prospective study on the ocular manifestations in 15 children affected with Kawa-saki disease (mucocutaneous lymph node syn-drome: MCLS). There were 9 male and 6 female children. The ages ranged from 5 months to 8 years (average: 3.0 years).

Bilateral injection of the bulbar conjunctiva was present in 93% of the cases, bilateral iridocyclitis in 73%, epithelial keratitis in 20%, vitreous opacities in 14% and subconjunctival hemorrhage in 7%.

There was no manifest ciliary injection, retinal vasculitis or retinochoroiditis throughout the pres-ent series.
