Fluorescein fundus angiography was carried out in 35 eyes with proliferative diabetic retinopathy. The nonperfused areas in the retinal capillary bed vere studied with reference to neovascularization from the optic disc.

The panoramic angiographs with an extent of 6DD from the center of the optic disc were pro-vided and the nonperfused areas were quantita-tively examined with a computer image analyser.

The results indicated that the extensive non-perfused area, i.e. more than 60% of 6 DD zone, was related intimately with new vessel formation from the optic disc.
