We performed photocoagulation treatment on 9 eyes with papillary and retinal neovascularizations due to obstruction of retinal branch vein. Argon laser was used throughout employing indirect pho-tocoagulation technique aimed at ablation of non-perfused retinal areas.

The treatment was effective in all the cases for regression of neovascularizations. Complete disap-pearance of newly formed vessels occurred in 4 eyes only, though, and a part of the neovascularizations persisted in the other 5 eyes. An extensive photo-coagulation covering the whole non-perfused area was necessary in order to achieve more favorable effects.
