緒　言

　日常の診療にあたり眼痛，頭痛等の眼精疲労様症状を訴える人達の中で，屈折異常以外に眼科的に特記すべき病的所見がなく，屈折異常を矯正しても眼精疲労様症状がとれない一群の患者が認められる。これらの者に対し上眼窩部にある三叉神経の分枝の圧痛点を圧迫すると圧痛があり，なかんずく圧痛の左右差の明らかなる人，圧痛点を圧迫すると，その痛みのため頭を後方ないしは側方にそらす人または自発痛のある人達を耳鼻科に紹介し，鼻科的疾患の有無につき検討したところ，鼻，副鼻腔疾患が意外に多く認められ，かつ耳鼻科的治療により，症状の軽快消失する人のいることを経験的に知つたので，1975年より1977年の3年間前述の条件の適合する患者を意図的に耳鼻科に紹介し，鼻，副鼻腔疾患の有無，種類，患者の年齢分布，耳鼻的治療による効果等を検討したので，ここにその成績を報告する。

We evaluated a total of 546 patients with sup-raorbital neuralgia associated with asthenopia or allied complaints. Otorhinological examinations were made in 252 out of the 546 cases. Diseases of the nose and accessory sinuses were detected in 215 (85.3%) of the 252 cases. Chronic sinusitis and deviation of the nasal septum were the most frequent conditions. Upon further analysis, pati-ents with chronic sinusitis and deviation of the nasal septum complained of headache and deep pain located behind the eye as chief ocular com-plaints.
