Studies on ophthalmic use of Taocin

　Triacetyloleandomycin （TAOM）はOlean—domycin （OLM）のトリアセチル誘導体で血中濃度の高いこと，有効濃度持続の長いこと，組織及び尿中移行率の高いこと，副作用の少ないことなどの点でOLM， Erythrohmycin （EM），　Leuco—mycin （LM）などMacrolides抗生物質のなかでも格段にすぐれた性質をもつものと云われる。

　Taocin錠はこのTAOMの商品名で1錠中にTAOMをOLMとして25mg （力価）含有するものと100mg （力価）含有するものとの2種の製剤がある。

The results of some experiments for ophthalmic use of Triacetyloleandomycin (trade name "Taocin") were summerized as follows.

1) Serum levels by oral administration of 500mg Taocin in a single dose attained to the highest after 3 hours and maintained relatively higher serum levels still after 6 hours.

Compared with the similar dose of Oleandomycin, Taocin was found to be more later absorbed, while it produced consistently higher levels.

2) The application of 500mg Taocin in a single dose gave a penetration of 1.36 mcg /cc of oleandomycin into the aqueous of the human eye, the Blood-aqueous ratio being 46.8%.
