Since June to October, 1960, the author measured the systolic intraocular blood pressure (SOP) in 96 eyes of 49 patients who were having or were suspected of having arterio-sclerosis or hypertension, by the electronic ophthalmodynamometer of Yamamori.
The linear relationship between SOP and the systolic (SBP) or diastolic brachial blood pressure (DBP) was obvious in cases of normal or slightly or moderately elevated bloodpressure, but in the cases of highly elevated blood pressure, the relationship became obs-cure.
Frequently, the differences of SOP between both eyes were recognized.
