The velocity of the ultrasonic wave propagating in various parts of the eye is of funda-mental importance for the measurement of the ocular axial length by ultrasonic echo-graphy. The author measured the velocity in the sclera, cornea, aqueous, vitreous body, and the lens of pig's eye using ultrasonic apparatus with crystal frequency, 5MC, and 8 mm φ in diameter, they were, 1609, 1546, 1498, and 1627m/sec respectively. The sound velocity in the sclera, vitreous body, and the lens of the human eye were, 1613, 1514, and 1638 m/sec.
