  • Look Inside

Two cases of congenital ocular motor apraxia (Cogan) were reported. The one was 3 years and 7 months old girl with divergent squint, whose mother and brother had a typical eccentric nystagmus. The other was a boy, aged 10 months.

Both cases presented remarkable ocular apraxia, that is, inability of voluntary and com-mand movements of the eye in horizontal plane, and preservation of involuntary movements and proprioceptive reflexes. When they attempted to fixate an object held in front of them, the eyes presented something like conjugate deviation, being accompanied by a char-acteristic conpensatory jerky head movement.
