緒言

　今日の所，トラコーマは先ずビールスで起る疾患とされて居るから，トラコーマを予防撲滅するには，生体外では勿論の事，生体内でも此のビールスだけを壊滅する方法なり薬物なりが発見されるとか，種痘の様なワクチン，ジフテリアの様な抗血清の発見が最も望ましいのである。

　此の点からトラコーマ病原体の研究は極めて大切な事であり，緊急を要する事柄であるが，トラコーマ病原体が確定されなければ，又，其の研究が進まなければ，トラコーマの予防撲滅が出来ない訳ではない。

We have been working on the subject of exterminating trachoma since the 26 th year of Showa, 1951.

In the first year an investigation was made of 7 primary schools, 1 junior high school attached to primary school, and 4 junior high schools in Gifu Prefecture, but of none of senior high schools.
