眼疾患の開頭手術

Brain-surgical Treatment for the Optic Diseases

1．何故眼科で開頭手術をするのか？

　標題は予告されて与えられたもので甚だ味のない云い廻しであるが，要之，「脳外科的に処置をしなければ治療が難しい，又は出来ないもの，或は手間どるし不充分である様な眼疾患又は眼症状をどうすればよいか？」を眼科医である私に書けと云う事である。答は簡単で眼症状又は眼疾患が如何の様な頭蓋内病変により起つたかを正しく診断する事，勿論このDiagnosis （durch-kennen）とは，この病変を病理組織的にも予め知り，又手術による剔出可能性とか，予後迄も充分考えていなければならぬのである。

　此際行われる脳手術は現在日本の脳外科教室で行つている米国流の脳外科なのであつて「眼疾患の」とか「眼科の」等と云う特別なものではない。

The auther had craniotomized in his eye clinic over one hundred cases of brain tumor in and around Sella turcica, especially 33 cases of hypophysis tumor and 46 cases of cranio-pharyngiomas, several meningiomas, gliomas and others : and over 320 cases of arachnoiditis around optic chiasm.

These cases were diagnosed in the Department of Ophthalmology, Kobe Med. College in about 13 years.
