緒言

　私達は，眼の形態覚がどの程度鋭敏であるかを，普通視力であらわしている。しかし視力は，分離閾値を示しているだけで，形態覚のごく一断面しか表現することが出来ない。

　眼の形態覚を，より普遍的にあらわすために，視覚系の空間周波数特性をはかり，その結果をModulation Transfer Function　（MTF）であらわすという方法がある^1〜10）。

The ability of the human eye to process visual images can be expressed by modulation transfer function (MTF). We constructed an apparatus to clinically measure the function between the retina and the brain by projecting interference fringe on the retina with He-Ne laser.

This apparatus was then put to clinical tests. Hitherto, unsuspected supression of visual image transfer between the retina and the brain wasdetected in patients with posterior-type kerato-conus, aphakia some weeks after cataract ext-raction and retinochoridal or optic nerve diseases in the recovery period.
