  • Look Inside

A public health center in Osaka has been conducting a visual acuity screening for child-ren at 3 years of age since 1969. Subjects with less than 0.5 uncorrected vision in either eye were subjected to a through ophthalmological examination. All the subjects were recently re-investigated and resulted in the following find-ings.

1) Visual acuity testing with Landolt ring at 2.5 meters could be held in only about two-thirds of the children. Further, an accurate measurement was very difficult in these coope-rative subjects.
