A New Type of Ocular Fundus Camera

緒言

　われわれが，血管やその流れを直視できるのは，眼底だだけである。このため，眼底観察は，他の検診ではえられない情報を与えてくれる検診として，必要かつ重要なものである。眼底を観察するためには，眼底を照明することが必要であり，照明光なしでは，われわれは，何も見ることができない。眼底を照明するには，照明光を瞳孔という限られた穴を通さなければならないしまた，同じ瞳孔を通して観察もしなければならない。照明光による角膜や水晶体での反射光は，眼底観察の妨げとなる。

　このようなことが，眼底観察を，難しいものにしている。

Our newly developed fundus camera fitted with optical fiber bundle for fundus illumina-tion was put to clinical trial with a view to obtain higher resolution of the fundus picture.

The optical system of our fundus camera is composed of specially designed contact lens which corrects spherical aberrations of Gulls-trand's model eye and an object lens which corrects its spherical aberration. The aperture at the cornea is 5 mm in diameter. The theore-tical resolution of the whole system is about 500 lines/mm.
