  • Look Inside

A 50-year-old female was operated for her-niation of the vertebral disc under general ane-sthesia in prone position. The surgery lasted for 4 hours and the whole procedure ran une-ventfully. The patient noted impaired vision when she returned to the ward 2 hours after the end of the surgery. One and half an hour later, the vision was reduced to light percep-tion. Ophthalmological examination on the fol-lowing day revealed typical fundus findings of temporary occlusion of central retinal artery.Paresthesia and edema of the right forehead and the eyelid were also present during a few days following the surgery.
