いわゆる東京光化学スモッグ被害者の眼症状と全身症状について

Ocular and Internal Symptoms of Tokyo Photochemical Air Pollution

緒言

　いわゆる光化学スモッグによる集団被害は東京では1970年7月18日の立正高校事件に始まるが，千葉県ではそれより約1カ月早く，6月28日に事件が起こつている^1）。1970年6月28日，千葉県木更津の海岸で魚釣りをしていた小学生12〜13名が，突然"のどが痛い"，"咳こんでたまらない"，"呼吸ができない"などを訴え，その場で横になる者もあつたと吉田氏が記載している。この事件がわが国で最初の光化学スモッグによる集団被害ではないかと思われる。

　翌1971年は比較的被害は少なかつたが，はじめて大阪方面で集団被害が生じ医学界に報告された。

Repeated mass injury due to air pollution took place from June to July 1972 among students while attending Taishido Junior High school,Tokyo.

Subjective main symptoms were ocular pain, headache and throat pain. The eye involvement generally appeared subjectively as eye pain or irritation, epiphora, sensitivity to light and itching. Those symptoms were nearly the same as those of the cases of Shakujii Minami Junior high school which was already reported in this paper.
