軟性コンタクトレンズの視力矯正効果

Effect of Visual Correction by Using Soft Contact Lens

緒言

　屈折異常の矯正に眼鏡とコンタクトレンズ（以下C．L．と略）が使われているが，C．L．の短所に装着時の異物感があるため，使用を中止する者がかなりみられる。屈折異常に対する視力矯正効果，視野，不等像，両眼視機能を比べるとC．L．は眼鏡よりも優れているにもかかわらず，異物感に対する危惧の念から，患者も，医師も医学上の目的でC．L．を使わせることが少なく，むしろ社会的な意味や，美容上の目的で若年の女子に広く使われているのがC．L．普及の現状であつて，これは日本だけでなく欧米諸国でも同じ傾向となつている。上記の欠点を解決する目的で，最近Hy—dro oxy ethyl methacrylate （HEMA）を材料にした吸水性の大きい軟性C．L．が開発され，実用化できるようになつてきたが，軟性C．L．を屈折異常の矯正に用いて，その視力矯正効果を眼鏡レンズ，従来のC．L．（硬質C．L．と略）と比較検討を行なつたのでその結果を述べておく。

Myopia and aphakia were corrected by softcontact lens, and their effects of the visual correction were compared with spectacle glasses, hard contact lens and soft contact lens.

The results were as follows:

1. In case of myopia, the necessary power of lens for correcting visual acuity by soft contact lenses was lower than by spectacle glasses and hard contact lens while an oppo-site tendency was observed in the case of aphakia.

2. Many cases of visual acuity corrected by soft contact lens showed better visual acuity than by hard contact lens and spectacle gla-sses.
