涙液減少症への軟性コンタクトレンズの試み

Hydrophilic Contact Lens in the Management of Dry Eye

緒言

　涙液減少症は，流涙症と異なつて角膜障害を伴うことが多く，臨床的にはむしろ重要視されなくてはならない。またわが国においても，冷暖房の普及につれて，このような涙液減少にもとづく眼症状を訴える患者の増加する傾向のみられることから考えても，その対策を急がねばならない。

　今回われわれは，これらの涙液減少症に対して，軟性コンタクトレンズを使用する機会を得たので，その結果をここに報告する。

Hydrophilic contact lens was therapeutically used in four cases with intractable complaints from 'dry eye'. The subjects consisted of 1 case of SjOgren's syndrome, one case of keratocon-junctivitis sicca and two cases of keratoconjunc-tival xerosis as a complication of dyphtheria and multiform exudative erythema respectively. Application of hydrophilic contact lens with 60 % water content brought about immediate relief of subjective complaints as ocular pain, photo-phobia or blurred vision.
