  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Abducens paralysis as "false localizing sign" of intracranial tumor is most frequently encoun-tered, but its mechanism is problematical and not established. Many theories have been evol-ved as being caused by involvement of the pe-ripheral nerve fiber bundle. However the brain stem was not examined histologically.

Authors examined the brain stems of two autopsied cases (Case 1. Frontoparietotemporal-lobe tumor. Case 2. Pineal tumor), who repre-sented the bilateral 6th nerve paralyses before death.
