Survey of Increased Intraocular Pressure in the Younger Age Groups

I．緒言

　一般に原発性緑内障を臨床的に取りあげる場合に，小児のHydrophthalmusと成人より老人にみられる緑内障例については注意が喚起されているが，その中間にある若年者層のそれについてはしばしば等閑に付される傾向がある。

　また，若年者層の緑内障については現在，なお十分に病態は解明されておらず，成人の緑内障との関係，あるいは先天性緑内障との関係においても議論の多いところであります。

In order to facilitate early diagnosis of glau coma in the juvenile and young adults, a study was conducted over the normal and abnormal intraocular pressure in the younger age groups between 15 and 30 years.

1) The mean value and the standard devia-tion for intraocular pressure in 353 eyes in the younger age groups were 15.97±2.71mmHg when studied by 5.5g load (Schiötz) and 15.34±3.74mmHg by 10g load. Only normal eyes were subjected to the study, excluding cases with retinal detachment, iridocyclitis, glaucoma or suspected glaucoma.
