  • Look Inside

Vascularization was induced by the applica-tion of pure lactic acid on both corneae of 12 albino rabbits. Oxygen was injected subconjunc-tivally in one eye of each animal, 2 ml daily for five weeks, and the fellow eye served as a control. Comparing both eyes the effects of sub-conjunctival oxygen on the corneal vasculariza-tion were observed for 10 weeks. The results were :

1) Appearance of the new vessels was not retarded.

2) Rate of growth was not altered.

3) Extent and intensity of neovascularization was not reduced.

4) No vasoconstrictive effect was observed.

5) Regression was not promoted.
