いわゆる慢性CO—中毒症の視野と脳波変状の相関性について

I．緒言

　近来CO—中毒は炭鉱や家庭内の炭火や都市ガスによる中毒のみでなく，広く自動車による排気ガスによる大都市の公害問題としても重要な課題となりつつある。今回われわれは都市ガス配管工に発生しつつあるいわゆる慢性CO—中毒症の医学的所見について，眼科のみでなく，内科，精神科，脳神経外科，耳鼻的の全科を挙げて総合的に検索を行なつた。それらについては牛尾ら^1）の文献を参照されたい。なかんずくわれわれは慢性CO—中毒症の視野障害が中枢性のものか，あるいは末梢性のものかを検討するため，脳波との相関性を検討してみたところ，興味ある成績を得たので報告したい。

Quantitative visual field studies and EEG were conducted on gas plumbers who were lia-ble to habitual inhalation of carbon monixide while fixing gas pipes underground. Through correlating quantitative visual field findings and the EEG pattern in 55 subjects with presump-tive diagnosis of carbon monoxide poisoning, following conclusions have been drawn.

1. Subjects with normal perimetric findings never showed abnormal or borderline EEG patterns.

2. Abnormal EEG pattern was elicited in about one half of those with abnormal visual field.
