  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

In 39 eyes of 38 cases in which retinal de-tachment surgeries were performed a piece of absorbable gelatin film, Ophthalmic Gelfilm (Upjohn), was placed between the Tenon ca-psule and the operated area of the sclera to avoid adhesion. Because of reoperation the conjunctival wound was reopened in 6 of 38 cases on the 14, 16, 18, 40, 44 and 54 th pos-toperative day. The film had been absorbed in only one case in which the wound was re-opened on the 40th postoperative day. In the remaining 5 cases the film existed in pieces for 14 to 54 days.
