Sinusoidal Response of the Visual System Obtained by Direct Judgment Scaling

I．まえがき

　私達は昨年本学会でボケた輪郭線の強度分布に見られるMach現象と視覚系の正弦波レスポンスを論じた際，①視覚系の特性，②広がり関数で表わされるNeural unit等についても言及した。これらは従来独立の現象として記述されて来た視力とコントラスト弁別能を単一の概念で一義的に説明しようとしたものである。

　この視覚系のMTFは近来各所で発表されているけれども測定法についてまとめてみると，①閾②閾上，に大別される。閾はコントラストの識別限界感度を求めるものであり，閾上ではMach現象からのものと，主観的等価値による測定が行われてきた。

Sinusoidal responses of the visual system were obtained by psychological scaling of a given optical stimulation (Fig. 1) basd on direct ju-dgement. The results showed substantially the same tendency as the sinusoidal response ob-tained by conventional psychological method. The peak position of sinusoidal response chan-ged linearly with the visual acuity of the test subject. The psychological scaling is appli-cable to other psychological studies because of its simple experimental procedure, easy data processing and stable results.
