翼状片の研究—第5報術後抗腫瘍剤治療を行なつた翼状片患者の長期観察

Studies on Pterygium:Report 5 : Follow-up Observation of the Pterygium Patients Treated by Mitomycine

　われわれはすでに第3報，第4報において翼状片の新しい治療法として抗腫瘍剤を局所的に使用して再発を防止する方法を発表した。

　今回はこの治療法（マイトマイシンC点眼による方法）の長期観察成績を報告する。

132 eyes of 124 patients were followed up in whom Mitomycin C eyedrop was prescribed after pterygium operation with a view to pre-vent recurrence.

Clinical as well as cosmetic cure was brou-ght about in 54% of thus treated eyes. Clinical cure with cosmetically somewhat unsatisfacto-ry result was obtained in 33% and recurrence occurred in 13%.

Side effect of the therapy, which mainly consited of allergic reaction of local nature, was experienced by 11% and was of little consequence. The results indicate that this form of postoperative therapy is advocated as superior to conventional beta irradiation.
