未熟児の眼科的管理の必要性について

Ophthalmic Care of Premature Babies for Retrolental Fibroplasia

I．緒言

　未熟児に対する保育，管理の向上および普及は，その死亡率の減少をもたらすに至つたが，その反面，未熟児にみられる眼障害の頻度も次第に増加し，その眼科的管理の必要性が叫ばれるようになつてきた。

　未熟児眼障害のうち，最も注意すべきものは，水晶体後部線維増殖症（Retrolental fibroplasiaR．L．F．と略す）であることはいう迄もない。未熟児対策の先進せる欧米においては，早くより，臨床的，実験的研究が進められ，その結果，1950〜1957年頃迄は，乳幼児失明の大きな原因として注目を集めたR．L．F．も，酸素療法の制限と，眼科管理の徹底によつて，その数は急激に減少し，今は，昔日程の関心を示さない迄も，依然として，未熟児には警戒すべき疾患としてとりあげられている。

Though the clinical problem of retrolental fibroplasia has in larger part been solved by judicious use of oxygen, occasional cases of retrolental fibroplasia have still been occurri-ng. The authors have observed fifteen cases of retrolental fibroplasia during two years (1963-1964) at the National Children Hospi-tal in Tokyo. The condition took a severe fo-rm in 40% of observed cases and a mild form in the remaining 60 per cent.

The very low plasmin activity observed in-variably in premature babies probably accou-nts for the development and progress of thisdisease in spite of attempted prophylactic me-asures.
