Recent advance in ocular therapeutics with enzymatic preparations.

はじめに

　酵素剤に関する最近の進歩は非常に目覚しいものがあり，診断学の面ではIsozymeが脚光をあびて来，又治療面に於いても線維素溶解酵素の様に最近特に重要なものとなつてきたものも多く，更にその他種々の酵素が利用される様になつてきた。

　これら酵素の歴史は非常に古く，最初はアルコール発酵の問題が取り上げられ，1600年代にはWillis及びLeenwenhock等によつて本格的な研究が行われる様になつて来た。

The paper is based upon a lecture intended as part of refreshing course for ophthalmolo-gists in practice. After an historical introduc-tion the uses of Adenosine triphosphatase, hyaluronidase, Lysoxyme (effective in allevi-ating symptoms in epidemic keratoconjuncti-vitis), Proteinase including Chymotrypsin, St-reptokinase, Empynase, Fibrinolysin and Elase, Carbohydrase inhibitors and Cytochrome are discussed.

Enzymatic preparations now rank among antibiotics and adrenocortical steroids in the management of ocular diseases.
