  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Both the eye and systemic findings in 79 new born infants with birth weight of less than 2500g. were studied for and following results were obtained:

1) All the infants who weighed less than 1500g at birth showed signs of prematurity in the eye as well as in the system.

The premature signs diminish in proportion to the birth weight.

2) In most cases, the infants having the premature signs in the general condition showed the premature signs in the eye also.

3) When the premature signs in the eye are taken as a guide for deciding prematu-rity, more appropriate nursing plan will be made early in the post-natal period.
