Clinical study over the effect of Mydrin OM on the visual acuity and refraction in myopic children

Ⅰ．序

　戦時中，激減していた近視者の数が，最近また著るしく増えてきている事実は，私達眼科医にとつて忽せにできないものと考えられる。殊に，近視の発生年齢が年々若くなりつつあることは，次代を担う子供の教育の上からみても，決して望ましいものではない。今にして抜本策を講じなければ，眼鏡なくしては，正しく物を見ることのできない当人間が氾濫するに到るであろう。

　現在，増加している近視は殆んどが屈折性近視であつて，遺伝性の軸性近視の数が特に多くなつたわけではない。屈折性近視は毛様体筋の緊張（トーヌス）が高まつた状態で，固定したものであるということは，佐藤邇博士，大塚任教授の諸氏にとつて，明らかにされた事実である。

The effects of Mydrin OM, a cycloplegic with 0.4% tropic acid N-ethyl-N-(γ-picolyl) amid as the chief component, on the visual acuity and refraction on the 92 myopic children in Matsusaka Saiwai primary school were examined.

The frequency curve for visual acuity had its peak at 0.3 to 0.9 and that for refraction had its peak at -1.0 diopter, when the visual acuity and refraction were examined before initiation of the treatment
