  • Abstract

The crystallin lens was examined with Go-ldmann slit lamp 900 a blue filter being inse-rted for fluoroscopy.

The nucleus of the lens showed at the inc-idence of blue light a yellow luminescence, the intensity and distribution of which were graded in five degrees from 0 to 4.

The yellow luminescence caused by blue light generally appears at the age of 25, rea-ches it's maxial intensity at the age of 40 and then decreases gradually to disappear completly at the age of 80.

It increases in earlier stages and decreases in later stages of cataract. The process is more rapid in nuclear type than in cortical type of senile cataract.
