和歌山県下学校トラコーマの近況

The Recent Conditions of School Children's Trachoma in Wakayama Prefecture.

　和歌山県民のトラコーマ（以下「ト」と略す）罹患率は嘗て昭和26年全国都道府県中第1位を占めた事がある。この「ト」高罹患率県としての意味で，県下学校「ト」の近況を二，三の資料を基に報告し，御参考に供する次第である。

This article is a report of the studies made during 1954 in Wakayama Prefecture on trachoma conditions. It should be noted that the prefecture once recorded the highest susceptibility of trachoma in Japan.

First of all it was observed that trachoma had been steadily increasing in the prefecture in recent years. The statistical observation of the problem was bound to be affected greatly by the quality of collected data in as much as they included some data given by those doctors not specializing in ophthalmology.
