Abstract. Purpose:To report factors related to subfoveal choroidal thickness in persons before cataract surgery. Cases and Method:This study was made on 159 eyes of consecutive 109 persons prior to cataract surgery. Cases were excluded with eye diseases other than cataract. Subfoveal choroidal thickness was measured by means of deep range imaging optical coherence tomography. Results:Subfoveal choroidal thickness averaged 181.0±74.5μm. The value was significantly less in eyes with axial length greater than 25.0 mm and in those with myopia greater than -5.0 diopters. The value was inversely correlated with axial length. Age and axial length were significant predictive factors for subfoveal choroidal thickness. Conclusion:Subfoveal choroidal thickness was inversely correlated with axial length in persons prior to cataract surgery. Age and axial length were significant predictive factors for subfoveal choroidal thickness.
