  • Look Inside

We performed limited macular translocation for subfoveal choroidal neovascularization in 10 eyes of 10 patients. The series comprised 7 males and 3 females. Their ages ranged from 50 to 78 years, average 67 years. As inclusion criteria in the study, the visual acuity was 1.0 or over 6 months before and 0.4 or less at the time of surgery. Nine cases had age-related macular degeneration and one had angioid streaks. After surgery, visual acuity improved in 6 eyes, remained unchanged in 1,and deteriorated in 3. Intraoperative retinal detachment developed in 2 eyes. Postoperative vitreous hemorrhage developed in 2 eyes. These complications did not seriously affect the final outcome.
