Abstract. Purpose:To report a case of gonococcal keratoconjunctivitis associated with polyarthropathy. Case:A 27-year-old male presented with discharge and hyperemia in both eyes since 2 weeks before. He had pains in multiple joints. He had been diagnosed with urethritis 10 days before. Findings:Both eyes were swollen and showed creamy discharge. He complained of tenderness in the left shoulder, left dorsum pedis, and thoracic spine. He was treated with intravenous ceftriaxone and topical levofloxacin and cefmenoxine. Keraconjunctivitis subsided in 5 days. Arthritis persisted after switching to minocycline. Diagnostic imaging showed findings of reactive arthritis. Systemic corticosteroid and antirheumatic drugs resulted in gradual improvements 3 months after onset. Conclusion:This case illustrates that infection by Neisseria gonorrhoeae may induce a variety of systemic lesions, including arthritis.
