Abstract. Purpose:To report 3 cases of unilaterally impaired visual acuity tested by bilateral pinhole method. Cases:The present a cases comprised a 10-year-old boy and an 18-year-old female who were suspected of psychogenic visual impairment, and a 44-year-old male suspected of malingering. Best-corrected visual acuity in the affected eye was 0.2,hand motion and light perception respectively. After findings by ophthalmological examinations failed to match the visual acuities, full visual acuity was obtained by bilateral pinhole method. Conclusion:Bilateral pinhole method was useful in the diagnosis of psychogenic visual impairment or malingering.
