Abstract. Purpose:To report the outcome of experiment to reproduce hues by senile persons with visual impairment. Cases and Method:This study was made on 3 persons aged 83,87 and 95 years respectively. The visual acuity was 0.9 and 1.0,1.0 and 0.5,and 0.4 and 0.4 respectively. Pictures of red apple and green orange were shown to them. They were then asked to reproduce the colors on computer screen using hue codes. Results:Case 1 with nuclear cataract selected lighter hue for red and green. Case 2 with brown cataract correctly reproduced red and selected mixture of gray for green. Case 3 with capsular cataract selected lighter hues for red and green. Conclusion:Presence of mild cataract with no difference in visual acuity in both eyes,senile persons showed difference in color selection. Recognition of green was impaired by persons with advanced cataract. This fact has to be kept in mind in the design of posters.
