Abstract. Purpose:To report changes in higher-order aberration and related factors after trabeculectomy. Cases and Method:This retrospective study was made on 33 eyes of 33 cases consisting of 21 males and 12 females. The age averaged 65 years. All the cases received trabeculectomy. Lens reconstruction was simultaneously performed in 28 eyes. Keratometry was performed 96.6±63.1 days after surgery. Results:Total higher-order aberration averaged 0.367±0.163μm,coma aberration averaged 0.210±0.144μm,trefoil aberration averaged 0.181±0.124μm,and spherical aberration averaged 0.119±0.075μm. Total higher-order aberration and spherical aberration showed positive correlations with pupil diameter. Trefoil aberration was greater in eyes that received 5 or more sutures. Conclusion:Trabeculectomy may be followed by increased higher-order aberrations and by impaired quality of life.
