Abstract. Purpose:To report a case who was suspected of malignant lymphoma and who was definitively diagnosed after involvement of the central nervous system 7 years later. Case:A 67-year-old female was referred to us for mild vitreous opacity. Her corrected visual acuity was 1.2 right and 0.7 left. Her left eye showed signs of anterior uveitis and opaque retinal patches. The findings were suggestive but not conclusive of malignant lymphoma. The left eye developed rhegmatogenous retinal detachment 4 years later. Biopsy of the vitreous showed negative findings. Retinal opacity developed another 2 years lalter. Computed tomography showed a tumor in the right parietal lobe. Biopsy led to the diagnosis of malignant lymphoma. Conclusion:Malignant lymphoma may develop in the central nervous system more than 5 years after initial ocular manifestation.
