Abstract. Background:Adenoid cystic carcinoma of lacrimal gland often shows poor outcome even after orbital exenteration followed by radiotherapy. Purpose:To report 2 cases of adenoid cystic carcinoma of lacrimal gland who showed a good long-term course after simple excision. Cases:Both were females aged 6 and 80 years respectively. The first case had swelling of right upper eyelid. The tumor was removed one year later through lateral orbitotomy. The patient has been doing well for 13 years until present. The second case showed a tumor in the right upper eyelid. It enlarged gradually and was excised 4 years later through anterior orbitotomy. She has been doing well for 7 years after surgery. The diagnosis was confirmed histopathologically in both cases. Conclusion:The present cases of adenoid cystic carcinoma of lacrimal gland ran a good outcome for 11 and 7 years respectively. The good outcome was probably due to complete removal of tumor, cribriform pattern of adenocarcinoma, absence of orbital pain suggesting no perineural invasion, and young age in one case.
