Abstract. Purpose:To evaluate microincision cataract surgery with torsional phacoemulsification and aspiration(PEA). Cases:This study was made on 43 eyes that received microincision cataract surgery with torsional PEA using OZil®. Results:Hard fragments could be crushed effectively without flipping. Surgery could be performed smoothly even when the height of aspiration pressure, rate, and height of bottle containing irrigating solution were set lower. The cumulative dissipated energy increased when compared with conventional method. Conclusion:Efficient emulsification of nucleous fragments is possible by torsional PEA and enables low setting of aspiration and irrigation. The latter feature results in less invasive cataract surgery.
