Abstract. Purpose:To report central retinal artery occlusion in a case of cryofibrinogenemia. Case and Findings:A 35-year-old woman presented with sudden loss of vision in her right eye. She had had two similar but temporary attacks 13 and 9 days before. Her corrected visual acuity was hand motion right and 1.2 left. The right fundus showed cherry-red spot. Fluorscein angiography showed prolonged arm-to-retina and intraretinal circulation times. She was diagnosed with central retinal artery occlusion. It failed to improve after medications. Laboratory studies led to the detection of cryofibrinogenemia. Conclusion:Central retinal artery occlusion is rare in persons under 40 years of age. Cryofibrinogenemia may have been the primary underlying cause in this patient 35 years of age.
