Abstract. Purpose:To report a case of corneal injury due to contact lens purchased abroad. Case and Findings:A 30-year-old female presented with acute pain and lacrimation in her left eye. She had myopia of -5 diopters right and -4 diopters left. Her corrected visual acuity was 1.0 right and 0.1 left. Both eyes showed mild edema in the central cornea and diffuse superficial keratitis over the whole cornea. The findings were suggestive of corneal lesion secondary to contact lens wear. By further question, she was wearing silicone hydrogel contact lens purchased in Canada. She was also using multipurpose solution purchased in Japan. Conclusion:The observed corneal lesion may have been caused by acute cytotoxicity or hypersensitivity to multipurpose solution.
