  • Look Inside

A 34-year-old female presented with pain and blurring in her left eye. She was during 6th week of pregnancy. Her corrected visual acuity was 1.2 right and 0.15 left. Her left eye showed Marcus Gunn pupil and inferior visual field defect. Funduscopy showed normal findings, suggesting retrobulbar neuropathy. Her left visual acuity deteriorated to hand motion 2 weeks later. Diagnostic imaging showed a tumor in the left sphenoidal ridge. Surgically removed tumor proved to be microcystic meningioma. Her visual acuity improved to 0.8 17 days after surgery. The tumor was positive for progesterone receptors and negative for estrogen receptors. There is a possibility that pregnancy may have accelerated the tumor growth. Meningioma has to be included in the differential diagnosis in the presence of pregnancy and retrobulbar lesion.
