Purpose:To evaluate an anterior chamber depth analysis system developed by us. Method:A slitlamp microscope, mounted with CCD camera, measures the depth of anterior chamber at the interval of 0.4mm while moving from the center towards the periphery. Three experienced persons measured 10 eyes of 5 normal volunteers with this system. The values were analyzed as to intra-and inter-observer reproducibility. Three physicians and three paramedical staff, who were new to the system, were asked to learn how to use the system. The findings were analyzed as to intra-and inter-observer reproducibility. Results:The intraobserver coefficient of variation averaged 7.4±2.3%for experienced persons and the interobserver one averaged 6.7±0.7%. There was a tendency for the fariation to increase as the point of measurement neared the periphery. It was easy and prompt to master the operation of the system. The measured values were the same as those by experienced persons. Conclusion:This system has a high intra-and inter-observer reproducibility. It promises to be of value in detecting narrow chamber angle.
